Previewing notification content on the lock screen by default, is undoubtedly a huge security risk that appears to be overlooked by Samsung and some other smartphone makers like Apple. The reason is pretty straightforward – privacy and information leak.

By default, when you receive a new SMS, WhatsApp message, email, Instagram DM, Facebook message, and many more, without unlocking your Note 9 (or other Samsung smartphone models), anyone with access to your smartphone can effortlessly read a part of the received message (if not all) along with the sender’s details, all via your lock screen. As a result, they can gain access to sensitive or confidential information sent to you, such as passwords, bank details, financial information, authentication codes, medical reports, etc.

To protect yourself from such invasion of privacy and sensitive information leak on your Samsung Galaxy Note 9 (and similar models), without wasting any time, follow the steps below.

  1. From your Home screen, touch and swipe up or down to display all apps.
  2. Locate and tap the Settings icon
  3. Locate and tap Lock screen
  4. From the Lock screen section, Locate and tap Notifications
  5. Finally, tap Hide content to Switch on

The above steps might also work for other models like Samsung Galaxy S9, Samsung Galaxy S9+, Samsung Galaxy Note 8, Samsung Galaxy S8, and Samsung Galaxy S8+, since these models somewhat similar to the Note 9.
